Learning Objectives
- Identify relevant threats, assets and adversaries, and analyse cybersecurity risks associated with journalistic activities and information handling.
- Evaluate security trade-offs and select appropriate protective measures for different threat scenarios to mitigate those risks.
- Apply basic operational-security practices to protect devices, accounts, information and sources, including best-practices for credential management.
- Assess the suitability of communication channels and privacy-enhancing technologies for protecting sensitive communications and other information assets.
- Evaluate AI-enabled technologies from a cybersecurity, privacy and misinformation perspective.
- Identify key legal and regulatory obligations relating to privacy, personal data, source protection and information handling.
Prerequisites
- Ability to use a computer, web browser, email and common online services. It is not mandatory but is good to have:
- Familiarities with common AI tools (e.g. LLM-based chatbots)
- General awareness of European data protection framework and regulations
- Basic understanding of a desktop Operating Systems (Windows, macOS, Linux).
